Suspects flee from police, but caught during foot chase with helicopter help

- The Gainesville Police Department says that 24-year-old Quavonte Nobles and 31-year-old Aundre Ryles were arrested after fleeing from two Gainesville police officers. 

The department says that one of their officers contact Nobles and Ryles in Village Green. As he approached, they exited their car and detected a strong odor of cannabis. The officer decided to then request back-up. 

Shortly after the arrival of the second officer, both individuals took flight in separate directions. The Joint Aviation Unit helicopter (AIR-2) was on a patrol flight and arrived almost immediately, says the department.

Police say that one of the officers was able to apprehend Ryler after a foot chase. AIR-2 was able to give the location of Nobles  while he was fleeing. He was seen unlawfully entering and closing the door of an apartment, leaving the occupants inside.  The occupants reportedly panicked and alerted officers, explaining that their 6-month-old child was in the apartment. 

The department says that once the officers were able to enter the residence, Nobles broke through a window and jumped off the second floor. He was apprehended by multiple responding officers and provided a lengthy amount of physical resistance before being handcuffed.

Police say that they were able to search the suspect's car, which had 3 loaded handguns in side and various amounts of narcotics. One of the guns was at Nobles' feet when the officer approached. He is currently on probation for a previous gun conviction too. 

Aundre Ryles is facing the following charges: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession with Intent to Sell Cannabis within 1000 feet of a School, Trafficking in Ecstasy, and Revisiting with Violence.

Quavonte Nobles is facing the following charges: Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Battery on LEO, Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
