Student arrested after being found with replica gun

The Orlando Police Department (OPD) confirmed that at approximately 7:10 a.m. Thursday morning, OPD School Resource Officers on the Lake Nona High School campus were notified that the administration received information that a student was on campus with what appeared to be a gun in his book bag.

The department says that the officers located the student and found a replica firearm along with 24 CO2 cylinders, ammunition, and a pocket knife.

The student was reportedly arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Campus, a felony.

This incident comes one day after a 17 people were killed in a deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida. 

The Orlando Police Department says that they want to stress the important of "See Something, Say Something." Because someone saw something and spoke up, the school administration and OPD officers were able to ensure the safety of students on campus.
