State fire marshal investigates massive fire at Leesburg citrus plant

Daylight showed how big this devastation is Sunday. You could see the remnants of what was the Lake County Citrus Sales building. The question Sunday was what started the massive fire.

Flames shot through the roof lighting the night sky as the fire destroyed the decades-old building Saturday night.

Charles Knight saw the fire and shot the cellphone video. The heat was intense.

He said, "It felt like you were in a sauna for too long."

Sunday, Fox 35 caught up with the business owner who took a first-hand look at the devastation. She said the building stood here for 100 years and was in her family for 70.

She told Fox 35 they make fuel sales to local farmers and construction companies, and are trying to continue to do so.

Hours after the fire broke out, Fox 35 found firefighters here putting out hotspots.

Joann Bouck , who lives nearby, said, "I think it was quite disastrous. To tell you the truth, it's a shame."

She doesn't know the owner, but said, "I don't know what to say other then I feel bad for them. I wish them the best."

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Fox 35 got an email Sunday evening from Kayla Bailey, a spokeswoman for the State Fire Marshal.

"The fire still under investigation," she said. "No cause has been determined yet."
