SR 417 closed due to fatal crash
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Southbound lanes of State Road 417 were closed for several hours early Tuesday evening due to a fatal crash. A spokesperson with the Florida Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist was struck by a semi-trailer truck at mile marker 28, near Lee Vista Boulevard in southeast Orlando. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
"Preliminary information is that a motorcycle was traveling southbound on SR 417 at a high rate of speed and ran into the back of a SUV that was also traveling southbound," said Sgt. Kim Montes with the Florida Highway Patrol.
