The Orlando Police Department says one of its officers was the target of gunfire, but no officer has been harmed and shots were not returned by an officer.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of W. Jackson Street in Orlando's Parramore neighborhood.  According to OPD, an officer heard gunshots in the area and came across two men firing at each other.  Investigators said one of those men then fired at the officer.  The officer called in the shooting and a pursuit ensued.

The suspect who allegedly fired at the officer was later detained off of Kirkman Road after police say he crashed his car into the car of another innocent bystander.

There is heavy police presence along southbound lanes of Kirkman Rd. from State Road 408 to Washington Street. Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Orange County firefighters responded to a car fire following the pursuit of the suspects and two people have been transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center as trauma alerts.
