Shooting and police pursuit ends in crash

Sanford police say three men are being questioned, after a deadly shooting and police pursuit.

A black car was towed away with damage on Tuesday, after Sanford officers say it crashed during a pursuit.  Officers chased the car after a deadly shooting took place on 6th Street early in the day.  Officers say three men drove off.

“That pursuit led in a crash behind me at 18th and Airport, in which three subjects fled the vehicle on foot,” said Sanford Police spokesperson Bianca Gillette.

Officers caught the men. Investigators said they chased the suspects, because of the danger they were causing to the public.  “We’re completely in policy in pursing the vehicle. A black male in his early 20s was the victim,” Gillette explained.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
