Second major traffic shift planned for westbound I-4 in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Work on the second major traffic shift for westbound Interstate 4 is planned overnight on Sunday, October 11, near the Formosa Avenue overpass. The long-term traffic pattern will relocate the westbound lanes to newly constructed temporary lanes, west of the existing travel lanes. The traffic shift is approximately one-third of a mile long. Weather permitting, the new traffic pattern will be open to drivers at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 12.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. The I-4 Ultimate project is rebuilding 21 miles of Interstate 4 (I-4) from west of Kirkman Road in Orange County to east of State Road 434 in Seminole County, adding two new dynamic tolled Express Lanes in each direction, replacing more than 140 bridges, reconfiguring 15 major interchanges and reconstructing the entire roadway.
