Sanford lieutenant accused of attacking woman bonds out of jail

The Sanford police officer accused of head-butting and punching a woman is out of jail on bond.

Lt. Joseph Santiago stood quietly as the judge set his bond on Sunday.

He was arrested on State Road 46A a little before 6 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Santiago's arrest report, the woman he's accused of battering told police the two had been drinking in Daytona Beach and at one point, she said something Santiago didn't like, causing him to head-butt her.

Police say the two then went to a home in Seminole County, where during an argument, the woman said Santiago punched her in the face.

Santiago is expected back in court on April 27.
