Man arrested after explosives found in vehicle

A man was taken into custody Friday night after officers received a call for a suspicious person near the Sonny's Restaurant located on 1500 East Highway 50 in Clermont.

According to the Clermont Police Department, several five-gallon buckets filled with bottles of gasoline were found in 46-year-old Hargis Johnson's vehicle, along with a zip gun, or a homemade firearm.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad responded to the scene where they concluded the devices to be deemed safe.

Johnson is being charged with possession of explosive devices and possession of a concealed firearm. 

No one was injured.
