Port Orange selects Kenneth Fustin as its new Fire Chief

- City Manager Jake Johansson has selected Kenneth Fustin as Port Orange's new Fire Chief.  "Chief Fustin will be a perfect fit, and will provide leadership to the Fire & Rescue Department for the long term," said City Manager Johansson.

Chief Fustin was one of three finalists selected to interview from a group of 70 candidates that applied to replace Fire Chief William "Skip" Irby who retired in April of this year.  Chief Fustin's selection is tentative pending a background review.

Having served with the Springfield, Illinois Fire Department since 1989, Chief Fustin retired from the department in April 2015 as the Fire Chief. He originally started with the Springfield Fire Department as a Firefighter, then moved through the ranks as a Driver-Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and then was appointed Fire Chief in 2011.  His professional organizations include serving on the executive board of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and as the vice president of the Central Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.
