Police seek armed robbery suspects in Altamonte Springs

Two guys with a gun are on the loose, and Altamonte Springs Police want them off the streets before they strike again.   Authorities said there were four armed robberies at four different apartment and condominium complexes in Altamonte Springs.

A quick clip from a surveillance video shows two suspects leaving one of the crime scenes.   Detectives are looking for two young men in their early 20s, wearing hooded sweat shirts. There is a composite sketch of one of them.  Investigators say early Monday morning, they pointed a gun at four different victims and stole their belongings.

Jim Alford lives at the Sandy Cove Condos where one of the armed robberies happened.  “That’s scary.  That’s real scary,” he said.  Alford has lived here years and never heard of anything like this.  He is surprised to learn someone was held up in the parking lot here.  “I’ll just tell my neighbors about it and be on the lookout, like all of us should be.”

Police said the robbers also struck at the Springs Colony Apartments. Detectives said that, in all four cases, the bad guys approached people in the parking lots and pulled out a gun.  They stole belongings and calmly walked away.

Andrew Snyder heard about the Springs Colony robbery from us.  “It’s kind of terrifying, especially not knowing about it until you get home.”  Snyder adds, “I have a dog so I walk her a little bit later, so definitely be a little bit more aware.”

Police said the robbers also surprised a victim at the Central Park Apartments and at a fourth location.  No one was hurt in these robberies.  Police said they do not appear to be part of a larger crime spree but warn anyone going out late at night to be extra careful.
