ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Orange County Sheriff's Office has opened a death investigation after the discovery of a body at an apartment complex. Detectives said a young man in his twenties is dead after he tried to force his way into a second-story unit at the Oak Reserve at Winter Park around 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
"When we got there was a deceased individual in the parking lot of the apartment complex, that was the man who was trying to break into the apartment," explained Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jane Watrel. "He was apparently stabbed."
Investigators said the deceased had a previous relationship with one of the people who live in the apartment. Deputies said the deceased was involved in a similar incident at the same apartment once before and was charged with burglary.
"The three people inside the apartment -- two women and a man -- are fully cooperating with deputies and investigators, and they're working through the stories of what happened," Watrel added.
Authorities have indicated that they are investigating the case as a justifiable homicide. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
