Police identify possible suspect who followed victim home, attacked her

St. Petersburg police are searching for a potential suspect named Leslie Broadfoot.

Earlier this week, police released surveillance video of an unidentified woman who, they said, violently attacked a 69-year-old woman on September 9. Police said a woman and man offered to help the victim unload hurricane supplies she’d just purchased, but when they got to her house, they attacked her and stole her purse.

"She went to Lowe's to buy different things to prepare for the storm," said St. Petersburg Police Spokesperson Sandra Bentil. "After she bought those things, she had a hard time getting them into her vehicle."

Police believe the female suspect is 34-year-old Broadfoot. They said Broadfoot and the victim drove to a Marathon gas station on 34th Street North to fill a gas can, and then the suspected duo followed the victim home to 10th Avenue North. That’s when the attack allegedly occurred. Home surveillance video showed the suspects’ vehicle in the neighborhood.

"She hit her several times, tried to take her purse, she held on, the attack continued and eventually, she let go and that suspect got away with her purse," Bentil said.

St. Petersburg Police asks anyone with information on the whereabouts of Broadfoot to call the agency at 727-893-7780.
