Police arrest 2 in Rockledge home invasion, more arrests pending

- A 78-year-old grandmother says she's still a little bit shaken up after several suspects broke into her daughter's Rockledge home Wednesday afternoon.

"I could see a shadow down low and about that time a fist and a hammer came through the lower part of the door," said Darlene Martin.

Martin was at the home by herself and barricaded herself inside a bedroom.

“I just had a chair that I stuck underneath the door handle, I know it wouldn't stop them but I figured it would give me a little more time,” Martin said.

After running to the bedroom and locking herself inside, she called 911.

“He's trying to get in my door,” she told the 911 operator. “I'm in the bedroom, I have the door barricaded with a chair, please hurry.”

Rockledge Police arrived within minutes and quickly were able to arrest one of the suspects, 28-year-old  Kameron Allen, a convicted felon. Dive team units also recovered a fully loaded 357 Smith & Wesson handgun in a ditch behind the house.

Police say witnesses saw Allen throw the weapon in the ditch. Soon after a second suspect, 36-year-old Lacarlia Norwood was also arrested.

Both suspects were granted no bond after making their first appearance before a Brevard county judge Thursday on charges of armed burglary, and police say more arrests are pending.

“Through our investigation we determined there is 4 other individuals involved, we identified three of the four -- arrest warrants our pending on them,” sad Det. Bob Weigel, with the Rockledge Police Department.

Meanwhile Martin tell us she’s just grateful she wasn’t hurt.

“I really appreciate what the Rockledge Police Department did, they were here do quickly and they made sure I was safe,” Martin said.

Rockledge Police say all the suspects involved are from the Orlando area -- they  have no idea why they allegedly choose that specific house.
