ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A Orlando man was arrested after stabbing a sleeping homeless man with scissors.
An arrest affidavit by the Orlando Police Department says that on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the Rescue Mission Shelter on West Central Boulevard in reference to an aggravated battery by cutting.
Upon arrival, the affidavit states that officers met with the victim, who was covered in blood and advised that he was in a lot of pain. He said that he was sleeping when a man stabbed him five times with a scissor. The man then reportedly fled the area. He was said to have been wearing a dark sweater with khaki shorts and black working boots.
The affidavit shows that the victim told police that he knew the suspect from the street since he is a regular transient. He advised that he did not give anyone permission to cut him and desires prosecution in this case.
The victim was said to have then been transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center by the Orlando Fire Department. He did not have life-threatening injuries, but he was having difficulty swallowing due to the injuries. The affidavit says that he also sustained 2 small lacerations on his neck, 3 minor laceration son his head, and a minor laceration on his right hand.
The arrest affidavit states that cameras captured the suspect fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect, identified as Carlester Yarbrough, was located at Robinson Street and Eola Drive wearing the same exact clothing description given by the victim.
Officers also met with a witness, according to the arrest affidavit. The witness described the event as the victim did.
Officers reportedly also developed a photo lineup for the victim. The affidavit said that victim identified Yarbrough, one of the six photos, as the person who stabbed him.
Probable cause was established through this investigation to charge Yarbrough with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon due Yarbrough intentionally and knowingly causing great bodily harm, to the victim using a deadly weapon, states the affidavit. It also states that Yarbrough was charged with attempted murder since he intentionally did an act which would have caused the death of the victim while he was sleeping. Thus, the intentional act of Yarbrough is known by the average person to be dangerous and the act itself is done with no care for human life.
Yarbrough was said to have been arrested and transported to BRC with no further incidents.
