Orange County parents concerned of school rezoning

Dozens of Orange County residents learned more about a plan to rezone schools within the county. Parents were invited to a meeting with district officials to check out two possible zoning maps and to find out how their children would be affected. The district said that changes are needed, because they are adding three new kindergarten-through-eight grade schools.

Thousands of students could be affected by the possible zoning, and many are upset about the proposed changes.  "It's really upsetting, because I'm going to be going from an 'A' school for middle school, to a 'D' school that's super far away from where we live and in a neighborhood my son's unfamiliar with, and it's just very important," said one parent.  Another public meeting is going to be held October 12, and the School Board plans to vote on the two proposals in December.
