Orange County bus drivers begin training

Students may not be hitting the books this Monday, but Orange County bus drivers are. About 900 bus drivers will spend two days in the classroom before getting behind the wheel.

Orange County bus drivers have to learn a lot of new rules, routes, and technology this year. About 115 brand new buses are equipped with cameras in the front and back that face the outside. This allows officials to consult the video and see what went wrong or who was at fault if anything happens.

Orange County has 900 drivers, picking up 70,000 kids. These drivers drive 19-million miles per year. Fox 35 reporter Dana Jay rode along with a driver, who told her that being a bus driver is keeping your cool when other people on the road do not.
