One on one with UCF football coach Scott Frost

It has been an action packed five weeks for the University of Central Florida's new Head Football Coach Scott Frost.  He hit the ground in running in Orlando, recruiting, gearing up for fall.  “I’ve just been thrilled about the amount of interest we’re getting from recruits and the amount of attention I believe we’re going to be able to get a lot of really good football players in here it’s already happening in recruiting. We’re going to try to capitalize on this momentum right now and finish with a strong recruiting class,” said Coach Frost.

The Knights went 0-12 last season.  Coach Frost knows he’s got his work cut out for him.  He says he’s ready and he’s bringing in a new style of ball.  “#UCFast.  We’re recruiting fast.  We’re hiring fast.  We’re going to play fast.  We’re going to practice fast. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch.”

Coach Frost says while he will be making some changes to the program, he’s made it clear to his guys that he’s not cleaning house.  “One of the first things I told the players already on campus is they won’t have to worry about them not being my guys.  We’re a family. We’re going to be a brotherhood and the guys that are already on campus have devoted themselves to this program and this university and we’re going to give them every chance to be on the field and the same opportunity that anybody new is going to have,” said Frost.

Coach says despite last years record, he knows there’s a lot of talent in his locker room already.  “There’s going to be a lot of guys that play a lot different in my scheme compared to someone else.”

Fans are anxious to know what style of offense and defense Coach Frost plans on running as his first time as a head coach.  Right now, Frost says it’s too early to say, “We’re always going to do what’s best for the talent that we have on the team.

One of the things that drew me to UCF was the fact that we won’t have to change our offense much from what we did at Oregon to come here. I think the players that we can get in this place fit the scheme perfectly and I think this place fits them perfectly so I don’t foresee too many changes,” said Frost.

The Knight’s new coach has a message for fans.  “Come see us play. It’s going to be a heck of a lot of fun. We’re going to do some new and innovative things that they are going to want to be a part of so I look forward to seeing them in the stadium. “

Before coming to UCF Coach Frost was the Offensive Coordinator for the Oregon Ducks,  a program known for their fast play and flashy uniforms.  Coach says that’s some of the flair he’s bringing to Orlando.  He says UCF’s uniforms will be “new, modern and impressive.”
