Police in DeLand, Florida continue to search for a suspect who set a car on fire, while a woman was inside the vehicle.

On August 28, Tracy Adams was badly burned in the driveway of her DeLand home. At the time, police said they believed Adams knew the person who did it and that they were zeroing in on a suspect.

Adams fought her injuries in the hospital for several days, but family said her lungs eventually gave out and she died at the beginning of September.

Tracy’s daughter Jazaria Heath said their family is keeping in close contact with investigators and trying to help in any way they can.  She said Thursday that they’re frustrated the suspect hasn’t yet been found but also scared that the person is still on the loose.

“I don’t know where this person is, I don’t know what this person has planned as for my life, my siblings’ lives,” said Heath.

Family members believe they know who the person is as well. For now Heath and her siblings have moved out of Deland to a safe, undisclosed location for safety.

Heath described her mother as a loving woman who was always very open and honest.  Adams was laid to rest by family earlier this month.

Anyone with information that could lead to an arrest in the case is asked to contact DeLand Police.
