A nearly ten-foot deep sinkhole has opened up smack dab in the middle of Stetson University's busy campus, right next to a student parking lot. But as of Wednesday, September 19th, the sinkhole has been filled.

Students and faculty were originally told to steer clear of this grassy field, where the sinkhole opened up after it was discovered this morning. City staff and university leaders rushed to place a temporary safety barrier around the area to keep the school community safe. A fence was put up around it as soon as it was discovered on Monday morning.

Engineers confirmed it as a sinkhole that is about eight to ten feet deep. As of Tuesday morning, they have noticed that the sinkhole has not grown. Crews began filling it in and finished by Wednesday.
