Mom of teen shooting suspect appears in court

Before her hearing, a handcuffed Brenda Maldonado made hand gestures, stuck her tongue out, and laughed in front of television cameras in court.

The show didn't end there, as she later flashed hand gestures, struck a pose and danced.  This, from a 33-year-old mother whom police say didn't care enough to make sure her 13-year-old son didn't have access to her handgun.

Prosecutors say Maldando left her pink and black 9mm firearm on a bedroom shelf inside a bin with an open top. On Saturday, they say her son took the gun and shot two boys inside the home of his ex-girlfriend, seriously injure them.. Her defense attorney argued Maldonado isn't to blame.
