Mom of murdered of Ocoee teen speaks

The mother of a teenager, who was gunned down, says raising money for his funeral has been challenging. Meanwhile, deputies continue to search for his killer.

Stacy Thames wants to know who shot and killed her 15-year-old son, Antwan Davis. "Justice for my son. There was no reason to do something like that," she said.

A memorial was created where he died in Ocoee.  She said the way she found out about his death was unacceptable. "Somebody knew, somebody posted it on Instagram way before it happened. The worst way for a family to find out anything, through the Internet."

And to make matters worse, Antwan's aunt, Tiffany Long, says someone else they do not know created a Go Fund Me account for the teen, after the family started one to raise money for funeral his expenses.  They say the correct one was created by Marilyn Calhoun.

"It's nerve racking, even if they are trying to help.  The best way to go about it is to contact a family member. Not making another Go Fund Me account, because if there's two of them going on, you can't have more than one going, we don't want to lose what we've already gained."

Stacy says Antwan had been having problems with some other teens in the neighborhood. She says he was the oldest of four kids and will miss his beautiful smile.  "Happy, outgoing, outspoken, always had fun, loved to be around his family. They took my heart. What was the last thing he said to you? That he loved me."

As deputies investigate, relatives hope people call in with information, so they can find out who took such a young life away from them. "The more we can find out the more we can move closer to get justice for the family." A candlelight vigil will take place on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Starke Lake in Ocoee.
