ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - One man was wounded after a shootout with a security guard outside the Junction Bar and Restaurant.
Orlando Police searched the crime scene for evidence, shell casings littered the blacktop. A luxury sedan was caught in the crossfire - left riddled with bullets, windows shattered. Police say it all started around 3 a.m. Sunday, after the Junction Bar closed and the customers were in the parking lot.
Police say security was trying to clear customers out of the parking lot. They say one man wasn't having it, refusing to leave the parking lot. When security tried to force him to leave, he pulled out a gun and shot at the security guard. He missed, but the guard fired back - wounding the man, sending him to the hospital.
Nabil Hakim, a vendor at the mall next door, says it's not the first time there's been violence at the shopping plaza, which is across the street from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
“Last year somebody got killed here in the parking lot,” Hakim said.
Hakim said he feels safe in the area, at least during the day. “We have security at the mall, they have the police department - they secure the mall. They work here.”
Orlando Police said units were patrolling the area when the shooting happened and responded quickly. The bar owner said he had two armed guards and two bouncers working tonight. Police say the shooter expected to survive.
