Man who was fatally shot attempted to drive himself to the hospital

LONGWOOD, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Police searched the scene near State Road 434 and Powell Street for clues after a deadly shooting in Longwood. Longwood Police Cpl. Adam Bryant said they won't stop till they have all the answers.

“Diligently staying up all night long to deal with this case to find closure for it,” Bryant said.

Longwood Police said the shooting happened around 9:30 Saturday night. After being shot, the man made a grueling two mile drive to South Seminole Hospital, desperate for help. He crashed his car near the hospital. Medical staff treated him on-scene then sent him to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

The crashed car sat in the parking lot, while first responders tried to save the man's life. Cpl. Bryant said this is rare for the small city.

“It's unusual for something like this to happen here,” he said, “we're very fortunate to have the team of investigators we have here that are going to work on this.”

 Longwood Police are still searching for a suspect. They're asking anyone with information about this deadly shooting to give them a call.
