Man killed in Cocoa Beach police shooting

A man was killed in a police shooting in Cocoa Beach Friday night. 

Cocoa Beach Police Department responded to a call of some type of altercation or disturbance at the Royal Colonial Condominiums around 10:30 p.m. 

A woman told officers that her husband was intoxicated and he fired a shot from a gun inside their home. 

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the man, who they believed was armed. 

Cocoa Beach Police Chief Scott Rosenfeld said officers were put in a position where they had to use deadly force and the man was shot and killed by officers. 

Florida Department of Law Enforcement responded to the scene to handle the investigations. 

At this time, the man's name has not been released. 

No word on how many officers were on scene, nor how many fired their weapon.
