Man facing murder charge dead of apparent suicide in jail
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Florida man accused of killing an 87-year old Air Force veteran has died after an apparent suicide attempt in his jail cell.
Orange County Jail officials found 23-year-old Edward Israel Marrero unresponsive in his cell on Thursday. County spokeswoman Carrie Proudfit told news outlets that Marrero died early Friday in at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Records show Marrero was in jail in Orlando on unrelated charges and was waiting to face a murder charge in nearby Seminole County in the death of Wallace Dean Worman.
Worman was shot in the head in his home near Casselberry and neighbors found him dead Monday.
Worman's friends told the Orlando Sentinel he was in the Strategic Air Command as part of an elite group that flew B-58 Hustler bombers.
