Man convicted in fatal 2013 robbery sentenced to 10 years

An Osceola County man showed no remorse as he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years probation.  Juan Murial agreed to a plea deal on Friday.

Back in 2013, investigators say four people broke into the home of 22-year-old Eric Roopnarin and robbed him, then shot and stabbed him. Prosecutors say Murial agreed to testify against the others, in exchange for the murder charges being dropped.

Murial plead guilty to charges of armed burglary with a firearm. The victim's father Booran Roopnarin says, even though justice was served, it doesn't stop the pain.  "It's very hard. We all suffer, they suffer I suffer, my family suffer, I can't get my son back."

Three others were also involved. The ringleader, Koknrad Schafer, was just 15 years old at the time. He pleaded guilty to murder and will be sentenced in April. David Damus was convicted of murder. He is awaiting sentencing, and Victoria Rios is scheduled to go on trial next month.

The judge told Murial that he will be housed away from the others involved in the case.
