Man arrested after fight over parking spot

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - We've all seen it.  Someone pulls into a parking lot and parks over the line, taking up two parking spots.  

It may be a little annoying if you can't find a spot, but most of us get over it pretty quickly, but police say a guy in Ocala pulled out a gun.  It happened in the parking lot of Moe's Southwest Grill on SW 19th Avenue Monday.  

According to police, a 31-year-old pregnant woman parked her car slightly over a parking space dividing line, essentially taking up part of a second spot.

Police tell me 20-year-old Donte Lerma felt inclined to tell the woman she was parked in two spaces.   When the woman responded verbally --  we do not know exactly what she said -- police say Lerma got out of his Jeep with what looked like a black handgun to the woman...walking towards her and asking her what she said.

Sgt. Cynthis Barnes says, "She was in fear for her life..not being able to tell what it was...and him walking towards her in what she described as an aggressive manner...coupled with the fact she was nine months pregnant."

Turns out the gun was only a BB gun.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lerma told police he had mistakenly gotten out of his Jeep with the gun because he wanted to show it to his cousin.

Police arrested him on aggravated assault and he has since bonded out.
