SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A land battle is brewing in Seminole County. A public meeting held on Wednesday night got heated.
Roughly 200 people were in attendance to hear about the proposed river cross development and speak out on the topic. The development is controversial for those who want to preserve rural areas in Seminole County.
Folks are fired up about a proposal to build almost 1,400 homes and commercial property on more than 600 acres of land. That land is currently open, rural, and loved by the surrounding community.
Those who live in the area west of 419 in Chuluota worry that the development would result in traffic, pollution, and both infrastructure and sewage problems.
Tonight, developers and their lawyers are making their case, promising to keep a quarter of the land open and green, with more than 100 acres dedicated to the county. Both say that they are not being given a fair shot.
