Investigators search for connection between two overnight Melbourne shootings

Two shootings happened overnight just one mile apart, rocking a Melbourne community on Monday. Police are now trying to put the pieces together and see if the two crime scenes are related.

A man was shot and killed in the back of his home on Lipscomb Street. Police got there around 9:30 p.m. and found the man shot in the torso. He was taken to the hospital but eventually pronounced dead. Police are working to find leads on the suspect this Tuesday morning. 

Police say that while investigating the shooting on Lipscomb Street, they heard shots fired nearby and rushed to Monroe Street. There appeared to have been been a shoot-out in front of an apartment complex that was full of people. Investigators say that they were able to find at least 10 shell casings. There are no victims at this point.

Investigators are not suer if the two shootings are connected, but they are looking into.
