Hospital honors survivors for National Trauma Survivors Day

In honor of National Trauma Survivors Day, Central Florida Regional Hospital celebrated patients who were given another chance at life.

A group of survivors and caregivers released more than 400 butterflies to represent each life saved in the hospital's trauma center this past year.

Now marking the end of its first year as a Provisional Status Level II Trauma Center, the hospital hopes to boost awareness of injury prevention and the importance of appropriate and timely trauma care.

Trauma is the leading cause of death among Floridians under age 44, and Florida's death rate for trauma remains higher than the national average.
