Homicide investigation launched after fatal shooting

The New Smyrna Police Department says that around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, February 5th, officers responded to a call of a male who had been shot. 

Upon arrival, police say they found a male, identified as Andre Overstreet, laying on the front porch. He was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. 

Police, with the help of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department, reportedly rendered aid to him until he was transported to Florida Hospital. The man was rendered deceased a short while later.

Police say that according to his neighbors, a gunshot was heard moments before their arrival. 

New Smyrna Beach Police say that they are looking for anyone with information on this incident. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward up to $1000 for information leading to an indictment.
