Goodwill helps students go to prom

ORLANDO, Fl.  (WOFL- Fox 35)  Goodwill was helping some Orlando seniors prepare for their upcoming prom Saturday.

The nonprofit offered hundreds of formal and semi-formal dress for $25 or less. This was their first ever prom dress event, title “Fabulous dresses at fantastic prices”.

Camara Garcia brought all three of her daughters to shop for dresses, she says this is the perfect way to give them a night they will never forget.

“Everybody wanted their daughters to look great on that special night on the prom, with this event it could be possible", Garcia said.

Goodwill Representative Karla Radka said the reason behind the event is “so they can have the opportunity to have a prom night like any other student, any other young adult who is celebrating that special moment in our lives.”

Girls could also shop for accessories like bags, shoes and jewelry.

Proceeds from the event benefited Goodwill’s training and placement programs.

Goodwill organizers say they plan to hold this event for years to come.

They are also working on events in October for Halloween and a little black dress event ahead of the holidays.
