Girl, 8, donates toys to kids in need

Sydney Gendron loves her stuffed animals, and she's got plenty of them.

"This one was 'Spots,' because he has spots on his ears, and this one is 'Panda Panda," she explains, pointing out some of her favorites.

But this week, she has fewer toys after she gave almost a dozen away to other kids. She wanted to donate her stuffed animals to the Sanford Fire Department, so they can go to scarred or ill children, or children who lost their home in a fire.

"That way, they would have something to squeeze or something, when they get scared," she said. "Those kids don't have any toys anywhere nice to sleep, and I just thought it would be really nice."

She didn't stop there.  She went an extra step and hand wrote a personal note and attached them to each stuffed animal notes.

"'I''ll hug you when you're sad or scared,' or something like that," she explained.

The Fire Department posted a picture on Facebook, which read, "Thank you Sydney for being so selfless and kind!"

The eight-year-old said she is already planning to take 10 more stuffed animals to the department.
