Fundraiser planned for FWC officer in coma

A fundraising event will be held next month for an FWC officer who is in a coma.

The Clermont Police Department says that on August 3rd, Officer Kyle Plussa of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was involved in a serious vehicle accident while off-duty. He suffered a traumatic head injury, which has left him in a coma ever since.

They say that a man driving a GMC pickup in North Naples on Immokalee Road veered off the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the opposite lanes of traffic. The pickup struck the U-Haul head on.

A fundraising event will be held at the Texas Roadhouse in Clermont on 2457 South Highway 27 on September 10th between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. Officers from Clermont Police Department and FWC will be on hand to assist staff and raise money. Texas Roadhouse will donate a portion of profits to Kyle Plussa.

Kyle Plussa began his law enforcement career with Orange County Corrections in 2012 at the Orange County Jail. He later pursued a his dream as a Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer and was stationed in the Keys.
