From Broadway With Love concert has impact on informers

Broadway fans and those wanting to support the Pulse victims flocked to the Dr. Phillips Center to see From Broadway with Love A Benefit Concert for Orlando.

Some of the biggest names in show business hit the stage to raise  money for the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, Hope and Help Center of Central Florida and the Zebra Coalition.

For Justin Sargent (Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark) the tragedy really hit home  The actor grew up in Florida and went to UCF.  "I was part of the music theater department at UCF so we would just go there and have a good time.   I’m not really a big nightclub scene guy.  But,  it was the first time I just really saw people just having a great time, dancing.  It’s just so bizarre. such weird thing to have those memories and then this tragedy,” said Sargent.  Being back in Orlando made this feel like a hometown performance for him. "I feel honored to be able to do it. I feel I owe this community so much. I’ve been so lucky in my career and give back.”

FOX 35 spoke with actress Anika Larsen (recently seen in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) after the final rehearsal for Monday nights show. “It’s really the amount of talent on that stage is overwhelming.  I look around and I'm thinking the talented people I worked with and the talented people I admired when I was young are all on stage with me,” said Larsen.

Larsen is one of the more than 60 stars who ended her voice to “Broadway for Orlando” a cover of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s “What the World Needs Now is Love.”

“It’s just one small way we can give back,” Larsen said.  Some of the folks who survived the Pulse massacre and some of the victim’s family members were in the audience.  “I think they won’t help but be able to feel the amount of love pouring out towards them.”

All 2,700 seats sold out in less than 2 hours.
