One person was killed in a crash that sent a car into a retention pond Saturday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened on East Colonial Drive near Semoran.

A pickup truck rear-ended a Honda sedan, sending it backwards into a pond. They say two people were inside, one of them was Jesus Aucaquizhpi, who later died in the hospital.

His neighbor, Kim Long, says she's stunned. “He really, really nice guy!” Long said, “I really miss him when I hear that.”

Pieces of the car still littered the road where the two cars hit. Andy Wilson-Rivera says he was one of the people who helped rescue the two in the car.

“I just think we should be looking out for each other, you know? For everyone's well-being, and I do what I got to do. I don't hesitate, I'd do it again, you know?” Wilson-Rivera said.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said the driver of the pickup that smashed into the sedan is talking with troopers. She said he may face charges.

“Charges are pending against the driver of the pickup truck,” Montes said, “we have to get to the end of the investigation first before we file those charges.”

Florida Highway Patrol haven't released the identity of the second person who was in the car. They said it's a woman who's now fighting for her life, in critical condition.
