Football camp sexual battery investigation

A DeLand Police report says a call came in to the abuse hotline, saying that a 14-year-old athlete from Lake Howell High School was sexual battered during football camp at Stetson University on July 27.

 The complaint alleged that during the football camp, the teen was held against his will and sexually battered.  According to police, the allegations are against upper classmen.

The camp was sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. A spokesperson for the sports ministry released this statement:

“This matter is under investigation and Fellowship of Christian Athletes is gathering facts. All affected by this situation remain in our heartfelt prayers. FCA continues to maintain high standards of morality and personal conduct for all of our student athletes, and volunteers. Due to the investigation and proceedings taking place, we are not able to make further comments.”


The Seminole County Sheriff's Office says that child protective services is also investigating.

According to DeLand Police, they attempted to speak with the victim and his mother but both are being uncooperative.
