Governor Rick Scott remains mum on blackjack deadline

-  Florida Governor Rick Scott is refusing to say whether he will try to force the Seminole Tribe of Florida to remove blackjack tables from its casinos.

The tribe is supposed to remove the tables this week. The tribe filed a federal lawsuit on Monday seeking to keep blackjack and other banked card games in place.

Scott told reporters Tuesday he would "do the right thing for our state" but he wouldn't say what that means.

The governor and legislators have been negotiating for the last several weeks.

A five-year deal authorizing blackjack and other card games at casinos such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa and Hollywood expired this past summer. The tribe was given a grace period of 90 days to remove the tables. That period ends Thursday.
