OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested a man who intentionally drove his SUV into a pedestrian in a Florida parking lot.
A Broward Sheriff's Office news release says 36-year-old Luis Alberto Ferri turned himself in Tuesday, less than a week after investigators released video of the man. He's been charged with aggravated battery.
Officials say the attack happened February 23 in Oakland Park.
Security video shows the SUV stop to let the pedestrian walk in front of the vehicle. Before the pedestrian gets completely out of the SUV's path, the vehicle accelerates and swerves at the person. The victim suffered a broken leg.
The SUV left the area, but investigators say they were able to obtain security video of Ferri from inside a nearby grocery store.
Ferris was being held on $50,000 bond. Jail records didn't list an attorney.
