FHP says pedestrian struck by multiple cars

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal hit-and-run  incident in Orange County which  happened just after 8 p.m. Monday on Hiawassee Road and Laurel Hill Drive.

According to the FHP,  a pickup truck struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Hiawassee Road.  After the pedestrian was struck, he came to final rest in the southbound lanes and was struck by another car.

The pickup truck driver and the driver of the other car remained on scene, but several other drivers ran over the man and kept going and now authorities are looking for the other drivers involved in this incident.

Hiawassee was shut down while traffic homicide detectives investigated.  The FHP on Tuesday released the identity of the victim, Michael Gensler, 64, of Orlando.

Troopers are asking anyone that was traveling southbound on Hiawassee to contact FHP at 407-737-2213, if they think they may have run over the victim.
