FHP: Man arrested after plowing into 5 cars at busy intersection

A man has been arrested, accused of plowing into several cars waiting at a red light at Orange County intersection during the evening rush hour on Tuesday. 

Manuel Miguel Vega, 25, is charged with hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license. was driving is a stolen vehicle.  The Florida Highway Patrol is also investigating whether the car he was driving is a stolen vehicle.

When you look at the scary damage done to Juan Castrillon’s car, it’s amazing he was able to stand there and talk to us about what happened.  "I  see is this silver car, pretty much in front of my face, and then the next thing I  know, a second later, I  see all the air bags from all the sides of the car in my face," he said.

Castrillon was at a red light at Orange Blossom Trail and Whispering Lakes, when a speeding car, trying to make a turn plowed right into his.  "The impact was just like, you close your eyes and you open them and boom!"

Trooper say the car Vega was driving struck five different vehicles.  Vega fled, but police were able to catch him a few blocks up the street.

Castrillon cannot believe what a close call this was.  "It’s just ridiculous! Imagine how people are so reckless, and they don’t think about the damage they can do to someone who is just minding their business."

Ramon Armando was also waiting at the light when his car got whacked. Armando is happy the driver is in jail.  "He is responsible for the crash and he has to pay for that."

Vega is expected to appear before a judge on Wednesday morning.   His bond is set at $2,200
