FHP: Burned SUV may be linked to hit-and-run

A vehicle located in east Orange County on Wednesday is being investigated for possible links to a fatal hit-and-run incident on Tuesday evening.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol say the white 2014 Lincoln Navigator, which appears to have been set on fire, was found not far from the crash scene in Christmas.

FHP spokesperson Sergeant Kim Montes said the victim, 20-year-old Lazaro Adorno-Morales, was on a scooter and traveling east on State Road 50 around 8:30 p.m. when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle.  He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.  Witnesses said the SUV continued east on SR 50.

"At this time, the vehicle has been placed in storage for evidence recovery.  Preliminary information about the damage is consistent with this vehicle being involved in last night's fatal hit and run crash," said

Montes says troopers will work to retrieve evidence off of the vehicle.  As of late Wednesday, investigators had not yet made contact with the owner of the vehicle.
