FBI agents say threatening phone calls were made from inside the suspect's Lake County home, where he was arrested soon. Richard Mel Phillips remains in federal custody
Investigators cite four disturbing voicemails. According to a complaint on August 21, 2018, a member of the United States Congress received a two-minute voicemail from an individual threatening to kill him or her. The complaint identifies the member by initials only, as "MW."
FBI agents say the calls were made from the 36-year-old's Fruitland Park house, where he lives with his mother. Phillips is being held at the Marion County Jail.
