COCOA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Nearly 40 suspects were arrested, thousands of dollars in cash seized, and dangerous narcotics confiscated in a two-month long investigation dubbed Operation "Harvest Moon," according to the Cocoa Police Department. Operation "Harvest Moon" began in early October as agents began gathering evidence regarding illegal drug trafficking in various sectors of the city. The operation culminated late Wednesday night with the arrest of one particular suspect with a lengthy criminal history involving violent crimes.
"We have zero tolerance for this type of activity in our city," said Chief Mike Cantaloupe. "This operation will have a significant impact in reducing the illegal drug trafficking in our neighborhoods and the violent crimes that are associated with it."
Chief Cantaloupe says the sweep also netted 13 firearms along with several vehicles used for illegal drug distribution. Many of the suspects are considered some of the most violent drug dealers in the area, and if convicted, could face more than 20 years in prison.
