ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Orange County deputies are searching for the person who shot two people by a playground.
"I thought it was fire crackers," said Lynette Hughley. "Heard nine gunshots back to back. 'Pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! It was kind of crazy."
Crazy, because Hughley says children, like her own grandson Andrew, could have been injured.
"I heard gunshots, and I went to the playground to see, and there was a guy on the ground with a tank top and a hole on his side," the child explained.
Deputies say one person was shot dead; the other is in critical condition.
"People was running to help him and a lady called the police and ambulance to come<" Andrew said.
Deputies put the complex on lockdown and went door to door, looking for the shooter. Many waited outside, trying to get to their apartments.
Neighbor Shanabia Scott said, "I just want to get home to my kids," after she waited for almost an hour.
For many like Hughley, it's unnerving.
Two people got shot and they was going on a stretcher. It was crazy."
Anyone with information on the shooter should call Crimeline a 800-423-TIPS (8477).
