ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Orange County Sheriff's Office posted a photo onto Facebook of an officer who shared an extraordinary experience with an Orlando kid.
Deputy Lawyer Cilborne was patrolling in the area of Kirkman Road and Old Winter Garden Road when he was reportedly flagged down by a citizen in reference to a vehicle accident.
Cilborne arrived on scene and observed a child underneath a vehicle, according to the post. The child had been struck by the vehicle while riding her bicycle. The child was lying on her side and the weight of the vehicle was crushing her.
The post says that Deputy Cilborne and two citizen heroes tried to lift the vehicle off the child, but were unsuccessful. Six other citizen heroes needed to join in the rescue and they were finally able to pull the child from underneath the vehicle.
Cilborne was said to have used his first aid training to conduct an assessment of the child's injuries. He and another citizen kept the child calm and maintained cervical spine stabilization until the fire department took over.
The child was reportedly taken to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital, where she underwent lifesaving surgery.
The post says that Deputy Cilborne went on to purchase a new bicycle for the girl and he even delivered it to her at her home.
