The Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported that a Volusia County sheriff's deputy was arrested Saturday evening after a domestic incident broke out between him and his 16-year-old son.

Sgt. Robert Rahn, 50, reportedly was charged with one county of domestic battery by strangulation and one county of child abuse without great harm after the incident at his home in the DeLand area.

Police say deputies responded to the altercation around 6:10 p.m. Saturday. Rahn's son told deputies a verbal argument escalated when his father pushed him down onto a couch, punched him the face, and put him in a headlock. The son went on to say that his father put his hand over his mouth and nose, and he lost consciousness.

Rahn was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail without incident Saturday evening and has been temporarily placed on paid administrative lave as a result of his arrest.
