Deputies say man, 81, attacked ex and vandalized home

Derek Britton is behind bars, charged with aggravated stalking.  Deputies say the 81-year-old man was seen on a surveillance camera vandalizing his ex-girlfriend's house.

"The camera went off, and she seen that it was, she seen someone out there," said neighbor Joyce McGrath.

McGrath and her husband woke up to chaos Tuesday night.  Her neighbor told police she walked outside to a masked man standing on a stool, spray-painting over the lens of her security camera.

"Trying to hide from the cameras. It looked like he was going after her with the stool, so she took the stool and hammed him in the head," said McGrath.

The struggle spilled over into the McGrath's lawn.

"He came over here and they were wrestling around she got that on her camera where they were wrestling around," McGrath said.

Her husband pinned Britton down until deputies arrived.  The victim placed surveillance cameras around her house after someone spray painted her garage door, her car, poured motor oil in her pool and that's not all.

"Her tires got slashed 3 or 4 times. Her water got put in her gas tank," said McGrath.

Never did the neighbors imagine that Britton's elderly ex could be the culprit.

"I guess he's in love, if you want to call that love," said McGrath.

Records show the victim got a restraining order against Britton back in July saying he wouldn't leave her alone.  He is now being held without bond for violating that court order.
