Deputies questioning man after fatal Orange County shooting

Orange County deputies swarmed 35th Street near Orange Blossom Trail on Sunday evening. They say a 37-year-old man shot a 62-year old-man there.

Joshua Desire, a friend of the victim, said he’s stunned. “This guy, he's a good guy, he's a quiet guy. He never did anything wrong to anybody to just take his life like that,” Desire said.

Deputies say the shooting happened around 6 p.m on Sunday evening. They brought the victim to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Desire said it wouldn’t be the same without him. “That guy never, never be in trouble with nobody,” he said, “you know, I've been shaken, I can't even talk about it. We hurt, you know?”

Deputies say they found the suspect at the scene when they arrived. Desire said after the shooting, the killer tried to get away, but they stopped him. “He try to run,” Desire recalled, “the owner of the house -- his son hold him up. So he can't go nowhere.”

Deputies haven't released the names of either the suspect or the victim. They said it was an open investigation.
